Payoneer released a research report called Stablecoin Steps Up on October 19, 2026 at Money20/20 in Las Vegas, and one number from it has been spreading quickly: 69% of surveyed firms use stablecoins operationally. The figure is real, but it describes a self-selected group. Reading it as 69% of US enterprises having adopted stablecoins would overstate what the study found.
Who was actually surveyed
The survey ran in September 2026 and covered 265 senior payments, treasury, and finance leaders at US marketplaces, platforms, and enterprises with at least $100 million in annual revenue. Every respondent was already using, piloting, evaluating, or had earlier experience with stablecoins. That filter defines the result. A company that had never touched stablecoins was never in the sample, so the percentage cannot be projected onto US businesses as a whole.
The numbers and their limits
Within that group, 69% report operational use and 41% use stablecoins at what Payoneer calls meaningful scale. Another 82% expect stablecoins to become part of their financial infrastructure within three years. Thirty-three percent already offer stablecoin features directly to customers, and 50% plan to within three years. On the treasury side, 92% call multi-currency balances a near-term priority and 86% say the same about embedded customer wallets. These are self-reported intentions and priorities. Payoneer has not published item-level response rates, a sampling design, or weighting, so the percentages describe this sample and no larger population.
Where the claims concentrate
The operational findings are the most concrete. Among organizations using or piloting stablecoins, 50% report faster settlement, 41% cite better access to markets and currencies, and 40% report a better experience for payment recipients. Geography sharpens the result: 82% of businesses operating in 11 or more countries report measurable benefits in at least three areas, against 60% for those in ten or fewer. Businesses that call their cross-border operations very complex expect to expand stablecoin use the most, with the widest gap on paying suppliers and contractors at 82% versus 54%. The pattern points to cross-border payments rather than speculative treasury use, but the comparison remains self-reported.
Read it as vendor evidence
Payoneer ran the survey and published it through its own press channel, and it sells cross-border payment and treasury services. Faster settlement, wider market access, and better recipient experience are what respondents say, not audited transaction metrics. The 90% of meaningful-scale users who say the benefits justify the effort are the same self-selected group that already reached that scale. The report names integration, reconciliation, regulatory readiness, and provider accountability as the barriers between pilots and daily use.
What to watch for next
The stronger signal will arrive when stablecoin settlement volume shows up in Payoneer’s own earnings or transaction disclosures, and when the customer-wallet and treasury products respondents say they want launch and keep users. Until then, the report is a demand snapshot of companies already exploring stablecoins, useful for showing where interest is strongest rather than how far adoption has spread.
